Ivor Williams founded British Scurry and Trials Driving in 2012, bringing decades of experience and a lifelong passion for carriage driving to the forefront of the sport. A well-known figure on the Double Harness Scurry circuit from the 1980s through to 2005, Ivor has long understood what it takes to build a thriving, dynamic and entertaining competition format.

As Founder and now Chairman of British Scurry and Trials Driving Ltd, Ivor’s vision and leadership have been instrumental in shaping the sport into the respected and exciting discipline it is today. Throughout its development, he has played a central role in every aspect of the organisation — from liaising with show organisers and building innovative courses, to designing technical obstacles and mentoring the next generation of drivers.

There is very little within the sport that Ivor has not influenced, and his depth of knowledge and experience remains a cornerstone of British Scurry and Trials Driving Ltd.

A devoted horseman, Ivor competed for many years with his well-known ponies Tyme and Tide, Peaches and Cream, and Moonrise and Sunset, with Moondust later joining the team following the sad loss of Sunset. While Ivor no longer competes himself, his competitive spirit continues through his daughter Chloe, who now drives Moondust alongside her pair of chestnut mares, Tutti and Frutti.

With British Scurry and Trials Driving Ltd now operating under a clear and structured organisation, Ivor has begun to step back from day-to-day operations, allowing the next generation to take the lead in delivering and developing the sport. However, his guidance, oversight, and passion remain at the heart of the organisation, ensuring that its standards, values, and vision continue to be upheld.

Jack Williams has been immersed in the world of British Scurry and Trials Driving from an early age, growing up within the sport under the guidance of his father, Ivor. With a lifetime of experience and a deep-rooted passion for all things scurry, Jack has developed into one of the sport’s most influential and forward-thinking figures.

Now serving as Managing Director of British Scurry and Trials Driving Ltd, Jack plays a central role in shaping the direction and future of the organisation. His involvement spans every aspect of the sport, from driving, backstepping, course building and judging, to delivering professional commentary as a qualified commentator.

Jack’s leadership within the arena and behind the scenes has seen him take full responsibility for course design, arena delivery, and the overall coordination of events. His calm, assured approach and attention to detail ensure that every competition is delivered to a consistently high standard.

Off the field, Jack leads on event logistics and administration, acting as the primary point of contact for entries, registrations, and organiser liaison. His ability to manage the operational side of the sport with clarity and professionalism has been instrumental in the continued growth and development of British Scurry and Trials Driving Ltd.

Dedicated, driven, and deeply committed to the sport, Jack continues to play a pivotal role in advancing British Scurry and Trials Driving at every level.

Director | Promotion and Compliance

Chloe Williams, daughter of Ivor and Wendy, has grown up within British Scurry and Trials Driving and continues to carry forward the family’s longstanding involvement in the sport. Alongside competing with her talented pair of chestnut mares, Tutti and Frutti, Chloe remains heavily involved in the day-to-day running and promotion of the organisation.

As Director of Promotion and Compliance for British Scurry and Trials Driving Ltd, Chloe assists with the sport’s public presence, supporting social media, promotional activity and communication surrounding events and competitors. Her work helps showcase the sport in a modern and engaging way while maintaining the identity and atmosphere that competitors and organisers know so well.

Chloe also supports event organisation and administration where required, assisting with communication, competitor coordination and general organisational matters, alongside helping oversee compliance-related responsibilities connected to the running of events.

When not competing, she is a trusted backstepper, regularly working alongside experienced competitors and demonstrating reliability and composure under pressure.

Working as part of the wider leadership team, Chloe continues to support the ongoing growth and presentation of British Scurry and Trials Driving Ltd as the sport continues to develop nationwide.

Director | Development

Wendy Scott brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to British Scurry and Trials Driving Ltd, having been actively involved in the sport of scurry driving for many years.

As Director of Development, Wendy plays a key role in supporting the continued progression of the sport, offering valuable insight and guidance across all areas of the organisation. Her longstanding involvement has given her a deep understanding of both the competitive and organisational aspects of scurry driving, making her a highly respected figure within the community.

Wendy works closely with the leadership team, contributing ideas, supporting decision-making, and helping to shape the future direction of British Scurry and Trials Driving Ltd. Her balanced approach and extensive experience ensure that the sport continues to evolve while maintaining the standards and values it has been built upon.
