Ivor Williams founded British Scurry and Trials Driving in 2012, bringing decades of experience and a lifelong passion for carriage driving to the forefront of the sport. A well-known figure on the Double Harness Scurry circuit from the 1980s through to 2005, Ivor has long understood what it takes to build a thriving, dynamic and entertaining competition format. His vision and leadership have shaped BSTD into the respected and exciting discipline it is today. Throughout the development of BSTD, Ivor has worn many hats – from liaising with show organisers and building innovative courses, to designing technical obstacles and mentoring the next generation of drivers. There’s very little within the sport that Ivor hasn’t had a hand in, and his wealth of knowledge remains a cornerstone of the organisation. A devoted horseman, Ivor competed for many years with his well-known ponies Tyme and Tide, Peaches and Cream, and Moonrise and Sunset – with Moondust later joining the team following the sad loss of Sunset. While Ivor no longer competes himself, his competitive spirit proudly lives on through his daughter Chloe, who now drives Moondust alongside her pair of chestnut mares, Tutti and Frutti. Now, with a strong team around him and the next generation stepping into leadership roles,
Ivor is able to begin stepping back from some of the day-to-day responsibilities. However, his presence, guidance and passion continue to be at the heart of British Scurry and Trials Driving.

Carole Davenport is a founding member of British Scurry and Trials Driving and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the sport. A qualified BHSI, Carole has spent many years immersed in the wider world of equestrianism, with a background in show jumping, eventing, and coaching — including training successful Pony Club show jumping teams. Her transition into carriage driving came following a serious riding accident that resulted in a broken back. After being expertly cared for by the team at York Hospital, Carole turned her focus to driving and quickly found success in the show driving world. Inspired by what she’d seen at country shows, she later transitioned to scurry driving with her striking pair of black Shetland ponies, Spit and Fire. Today, Carole plays a vital role in the ongoing operation of BSTD, serving as the organisation’s administrator and health and safety officer. In addition to managing pre-show administration, she regularly contributes her expertise as a judge and commentator, continuing to support the sport she helped to shape with the same energy, professionalism, and dedication that have defined her equestrian career.
